We are looking for an experienced and motivated Staff Engineer who is eager to influence the company's technology direction and decisions. With a proven track record in developing and maintaining highly scalable Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA), you'll bring a passion for programming and a drive to grow within a collaborative team. You will play a key role in leading the design, implementation, and testing of software solutions while working closely with other developers to provide guidance and mentorship.

Responsibilities:

  • Influence the work of team members, and mentor emerging technical leaders.
  • Work with engineering and product stakeholders to refine the product roadmap.
  • Plan and drive execution of product features, taking active part in software development activities, implementing and shipping code.
  • Take leading role in product refinement sessions, aiming to deliver high-quality, scalable software that meets both customer and business needs.
  • Ensure your team’s solutions are easy to support by encouraging good, scalable design, adopting best engineering practices, and setting the bar for quality.

Skills and Experience needed for success in this role: 

  • 8+ years of professional experience delivering high-quality, scalable software solutions as a software engineer.
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience building seamless, performant modern apps using React, Typescript, and modern UI frameworks such as Tailwind CSS.
  • 1-2 years of experience working as a Staff Engineer or in an equivalent role.
  • Extensive knowledge of mobile app development from ideation to publishing.
  • In-depth understanding of the NodeJS ecosystem and expertise in React and/or React Native frameworks and associated tooling (e.g., Webpack, Vite)
  • Extensive expertise in database modeling and caching technologies, across both relational and document stores (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, etc)
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale projects spanning several months, effectively clarifying ambiguous requirements, planning execution, and ensuring high-quality delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of designing and building high-performance, scalable RESTful APIs capable of handling millions of customer requests efficiently while supporting critical mobile app functionalities.
  • Experienced in quickly assessing existing architectures and driving optimizations that enhance both technical performance and business KPIs.
  • Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
  • Analytical mindset with a curiosity to explore data-driven solutions and a willingness to ask questions for continuous growth.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Passionate about maintaining code quality through automated testing, CI/CD processes, and comprehensive code reviews.
  • Proficient in version control systems, such as Git, and collaboration tools like GitHub.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and tools like JIRA, Scrum, or Kanban.

 

Where:  

The EverCommerce team is distributed globally, with teams in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Jordan, New Zealand, and Australia. With a widely distributed team, we are used to working remotely across different time zones. This role can be based anywhere in Canada – if you are close to one of our offices, we can set you up in-office or you can work 100% remotely. Please note that you must be eligible to work without sponsorship to qualify for this position, and this role may require travel to our Corporate Headquarters in Denver, Colorado, or to other office locations around North America.

Compensation:  

EverCommerce is committed to equal pay and transparency. The annual base salary range for this position is $145,000 - $190,000 CAD Per Year. Please note that the salary range information provided is a general guideline and combines all distinct labor markets in the US. EverCommerce considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, candidate’s work location, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, external market data, as well as market and business considerations when making compensation decisions.
